Organic peroxides are widely used to generate free radicals for polymerization and similar reactions such as, in the
processes of epoxidation, oxidation, hydroxylation and reduction. They are powerful oxidizing agents releasing oxygen;
its oxidizing properties are used in the bleachings and deodorizing for textile, hair and in paper manufacture. Also,
they are used as initiators, catalysts and crosslinking agent for the polymerization process in the plastics manufacturing
industry and as chemical intermediates, bleaching agents, drying and cleaning agents.
One of the most widely used crosslinking methods for wire and cable compounds in electrical applications is radical
reaction by organic peroxides to enhance both dimensional stability at elevated temperatures and physical integrity
under high electrical stress of the compounds.
STORAGE OF ORGANIC PEROXIDES
Store peroxides in isolation and separated from the work area and from organic materials. Information on appropriate
material and design criteria for peroxide storage is available. Decomposition of stored reagents can lead to excessive
loss of activity, self-heating and runaway decomposition. Contaminated, partially decomposed, off-strength or surplus
organic peroxides should disposed of or destroyed under stringently controlled conditions.
Di Tert Butyl Peroxide – CAS. No XSX0050
- Keep away from direct sunlight, strong acids, and reductive agents during transportation or storage.
- Heat, mechanical shock, friction, shaking or contamination can initiate explosive decomposition of many

- As a catalyst of polymerization for olefin copolymers
- As a fuel additive and chemical intermediate.
- The half-life temperatures are 164℃ for 10 hours, 185℃ 1 for 1 hour and 264℃ for 1 minute.
- TBHP has a high thermal stability compared to other organic peroxides and is one of the safest organic
peroxides. It decomposes rapidly, causing fire and explosion hazard, on heating and under influence of light.
DTBP is used:

- TBHP is one of the general cationic or curing agent for emulsion and suspension polymerization of ethylene,
vinylacetate, acrylates, PVC, unsaturated polyesters.
- As a free radical initiator over a wide temperature range under appropriate redox initiation.
- Useful selective oxidation source in presence of transition metal catalysts.
- Source of tertiary-butyl derivatives including peresters, perketals, and alkyl peroxides.
- It oxidizes sulfur compounds to soluble derivatives to be removed in petroleum refinery.
- It is used as an additive in lubricants to reduce the wear of metal the surfaces.
- It is also used in bleaching, waste treatment and disinfectant.
- The half-life temperatures are 73℃ for 10 hours, 92℃ 1 for 1 hour
and 131℃ for 1 minute.

- DBPO is used as a catalyst in oxidation and sulfonation reactions.

- CH80 Used as initiator for polymerization of styrene, cross linking agent for polyethylene and elastomers,

- The half-life temperatures are 92℃ for 10 hours, 112℃ 1 for 1 hour and 155℃ for 1 minute.
2,5-Dimethyl-2,5-di(tertiary-butylperoxy)-hexyne-3- CAS No. XSX0286
- TMCH used as Oxidising and polymerization in verious reaction.
- TMCH is effective for polymerization of styrene and crosslinking of elastomers, polyethylene and used as

Lauroyl peroxide – CAS No. XSX0398
- YNE is used in the cross-linking of high polymers (such as silicon rubber, ethylene-propylene-diene
mischpolymer and PE etc.); also used as donor of free radicals in the degradation of PP.
- The half-life temperatures are 61℃ for 10 hours, 79℃ 1 for 1 hour and 117℃ for 1 minute.
- LPO used as initiator of polymerization in styrene, acrylic resins; and curing agent for unsaturated resin.
